Two new Maine Historical Road Markers have been added:
- “Reverend Melville B. Cox” in Hallowell, Maine
- “Blue Star Memorial Highway” in Hallowell, Maine
One new New Hampshire Historical Road Markers has been added:
- Frank R. Dean Memorial in Haverhill, New Hamsphire
- “Court House Grounds & Park” in St. Johnsbury, Vermont
We are particularly interested in the fact that Maine, as shown by the “Reverend Melville B. Cox” sign, has gotten into the business of posting green historical roadside markers. This sign in Hallowell, Maine is the first one we have seen.
The sign says that it was “placed by the Maine Office of Tourism 2012.” So the sign is brand new, yet on the Maine Office of Tourism’s website we can’t find any information on the signage program.
Does anyone have any more information on this program? If so, are there or will there be more historical signs?
